Healthy Grilling Tips For Your Memorial Day

We all know how great food tastes when it’s prepared on a propane grill. But can that great-tasting food also be healthy?

You bet it can! Follow these five simple tips to make your summer grilling menus as nutritious as they are delicious.

Five Healthy Propane Grilling Tips

  1. Find healthy inspiration – Look for delicious and healthy propane grilling recipes? Here are some resources to help you get started:
  2. Cook to safe temperatures – Use a food thermometer to make sure your meat, poultry, seafood, and other cooked foods reach their safe minimum internal temperature. You can learn more about food thermometers here.
  3. Avoid HCAs and PAHs – Cancer-causing Heterocyclic Amines (HCA) and Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAH) can form when you cook high fat meats at high heat for long periods. Use leaner cuts of beef, pork, or skinless chicken in smaller sizes (skewers work great), combined with a PAH/HCA-busting marinade (olive oil + mint family herbs such as basic, mint, rosemary, thyme, and oregano) to minimize PAH/HCA formation.
  4. Pack on the fruits and veggies – Tomatoes, onions, peppers, zucchini, pineapple, mango, and even apples are packed with antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. They taste great on the grill, too!
  5. Make your own healthy sides – Swap the traditional store-bought baked beans, cole slaw, macaroni salad and potato salad – which are usually loaded with saturated fat, sodium and sugar – for healthier homemade versions. Salads – bean, fruit, or leafy green – are also great.

Enjoy a healthy Memorial Day with your propane grill!

Irish Companies: Growing With You

When Bob Irish looked at gas-powered forklifts in Buffalo, NY back in the early 1960s, he didn’t just see a tool for warehousing– he saw an opportunity for his customers (and his own business).

He knew that powering those forklifts with propane rather than gasoline would enable the vehicles to run longer and more efficiently, and to operate more reliably – huge benefits for companies trying to make it big in Buffalo business. He imagined a propane tank strapped to every forklift in town, and now – more than half a century later – that vision has, at least in part, become a reality.

That’s the Irish Way in a nutshell – using innovation and foresight, backed by hard work and a commitment to quality, to help local businesses thrive. It’s no coincidence that many of the companies that we introduced to propane so many decades ago continue to be our loyal customers.

As we look ahead to the next half century, we see more opportunities – and more challenges. Driven by the passion and dedication of the next generation of Irish-family leaders – and by the values that Bob and Marcia instilled in our business – we will continue to grow and evolve so we can serve you better.

Whether we’re finding new ways to use technology to smooth your experience with us or providing good old-fashioned there-whenever-you-need-us service and fair and honest pricing, we will continue to find new ways to grow with your needs.

Budget Payment Plan: Make Your Heating Bill More Predictable

With things are as hard to predict as they are right now, anything we can do to add a little stability and certainty to our day-to-day is a good thing.

That’s where the Budget Payment Plan from Irish Propane comes in.

If you pay for your propane deliveries as you go, you have probably gotten at least one unwanted surprise in your mailbox (or e-mail box, if you use autopay) over the years. If you sign up for our Budget Plan, those unexpected bills would become a thing of the past.

Here’s how it works: we’ll estimate of your annual propane gas usage based on your past bills, then divide that total into 12 equal payments (we can make small adjustments – up or down – as needed). That means you’ll know exactly what you’re going to pay for your fuel every month, rather than fretting about heating bills during the long, cold Buffalo or Rochester winter.

Stress less with predictable propane bills

Our Budget Payment Plan helps take the stress of paying for your propane down a notch by letting you know exactly how much your fuel will cost well in advance of the billing date. Best of all, the service is free – there are no finance charges and no cost to enroll.

Imagine how much easier your budgeting will be if you know how much you’ll pay for your energy bills every month. It’s possible when you enroll in a Budget Payment Plan from Irish Propane. Contact us to sign up today – your plan begins in June!
